The Oklahoma Writer’s Federation Inc (O.W.F.I) was in full swing this month with some exciting sessions, banquets, bookstore, and much more. I believe I was there during the two days for 17 hours of intensity, but it was a good intensity for sure. I also got to meet up with another author friend: Shelly Malicote-Stutchman: https://www.facebook.com/shelley.malicotestutchman/
The sessions I attended were: (From www.owfi.org)
Step Aside, Darling: Getting Out Of Your Own Way with Mercedes M. Yardley- This session talked about the toughest roadblocks on the path to literacy success
Write the Book, Run the Business: Managing Your Creative Career with Julie Smith- This session was with a CPA who focused on information to running your author track as a business.
Are Book Trailers Dead? The New Era of Cinematic Promotion for Authors with Ben Richardson. This session focused on book trailers and statistics – related to book trailers.
Whose Head Are We In Now? Head Hopping and Other Point-of-View Violations with Ally Robertson – This session focused on point of view violations and head hopping in your stories.
The Author Platform Playbook: Social Media That Builds Readers with Amy Brewer- This session focused on social media statistics and having a social media presence as an author.
There were lots of other sessions, but I took time to collaborate with some other authors I knew. This was a great time to strategize and collaborate on ideas. I also had the opportunity to get a free critique of a story I am working on. I cannot wait to correct the story and get it published this year. I also had three books for sale in the bookstore:
It Happens! Nicoli Picoli! and Anna’s Amazing Alaskan Adventure:
On the first night, I was invited to the “Famous Author Dinner and Recognition” where all the authors were recognized for their outstanding work throughout from one conference to the next conference. I submitted “Anna’s Amazing Alaskan Adventure”, the Flash Fiction Anthology where I had two stories in the anthology called “A Devastating Secret” and “An Adventure Gone Wrong”. I also submitted my publication in Kidlio Magazine: https://kidliomag.com/kidliomag-5th-anniversary-edition/ . I was published in the May 2025 edition.
In addition, I submitted my submission for a blog and my article published on the American Legion website:
On May 6th, 2026, I read my book, “It Happens!” at the Last Page Bookstore in Moore, Oklahoma. I read to several children who came into the store. I was able to sell a book and ask the store to put some of my books into the store. This is a new bookstore.

My next adventure is at the new bookstore: Dream a Little Dream Bookery Nook on May 30th, 2026.

Then, the next week after that I go to read to two daycare facilities for their Summer Reading Program. I am looking forward to visiting the daycare children.
What is happening to my next book? Book 13 is in motion. I met on Zoom with the Illustrator Allison Vandenbosch (artful allie on Tik Tok) to go over the flat colors on the Illustrations. Now, it is on to the coloring of the background, facial features, and other illustrations. I also coordinated with MaKenzi Fox, my co-author who approved the illustrations so far. It is exciting to follow this process. Book 14 and Book 15 are in the editing and revising stages right now.
