Having Fun!

This week I had the opportunity to run into my good friend  John Cox, author of four books (www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0BXW1HY3T) . Both of us were having an enjoyable conversation about being an author. I always look for him when I go to my doctor’s appointments there at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.

I also volunteered to work a couple of hours for the Oklahoma City Public School District’s Read OKC Book Bus at Rockwood Elementary in Oklahoma City. This was an amazing experience since I was able to donate a set of books to the elementary school and help students from PreK, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and Special Needs Classes find the book that they want to keep. I loved how the children’s faces lit up when they came on the bus.

Next, I attended the Christmas in the Park at Choctaw Creek Park . There was a tremendous amount of people there celebrating and  opportunites for visiting over 70 vendors. There were local elementary, jr. high, and high school choirs singing for the crowd.

Also, there was pictures with Santa Claus, games, food, hot drinks, raffles, and much more fun. I even got to see the replica of a superhero’s car. It was a little warm at first and then got cold later on as it got dark. The finale was a twenty-five minute round of fireworks being fired off. Overall, it was a fun event.

During my time with my booth, I had several fans who were children come up to me . One middle schooler remembered me from years past and was letting me know which books she had.  Two other children (one from a daycare and an elementary school ) mentioned me coming to their respective places. This really made me feel like what I am doing is important. This is the reason I do what I do.
Further fun was had this week when I made a    Christmas ornament for a table at a place I attend and   then took time to take some fun pictures at another    event.

I am off to do some planning for 2025 and spending time  with the family. Look forward to momentous events and
    books to come.

Happy Holidays to everyone! Do not be surprised if you   see me on Facebook and other social media platforms.

There were lots of things to celebrate this couple of weeks with one week being my birthday week and the next week was the week of Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for my family and friends. In addition, I am thankful to all the vendor coordinators, customers, family, other authors, professional writing organizations, and friends who support my author journey. It is truly a blessing to be a part of a great community.

During this busy week of my birthday, my book, “Did You Come Home For Lunch?”  (first book I wrote) was   on display at the Author Solutions Booth at the Miami Book Fair at Miami-Dade College, November 22-24th.             I was excited for my book to be part of this event.   Click the cover to learn more about this book.

Picklemas was a blast. Guess who came to visit! It was held in Edmond, OK at the New Hope Church of   Christ on Saturday, November 30th, 2024. This event was a fundraiser for someone in Edmond that had   medical issues and the event was raising funds for medical expenses. I really enjoy these events that had a    cause wrapped around the event.

Well, I am off to get ready for my last event coming up in a couple of weeks called, “Christmas in the Park” in   Choctaw, Oklahoma.  It has been a long year of events but rewarding to say the least.

I am working on some projects with some vendors and illustrators that are being lined up for 2025. I hope to    have at least three new books published in 2025.

I hope to enter more writing contests and currently I am patiently waiting for contest results to   come out at the end of December for the National VA Creative Arts Festival.

I have a virtual author festival in February and the Books by the Bay Festival in March 2025, so I am looking   forward to attending both events. Both events are exciting to attend.

Finally, in the marketing side of the house, Okie Book Podcast added me to a list of Oklahoma Children’s    Book Authors which I was excited about. This is a list to encourage readers to order books from these    authors for Christmas.

Stay tuned for much, much more!
